Meet the Staff

nisa miranda

Director

Ms. Miranda has served as director of the University Center for Economic Development since 1995. She has more than 20 years of experience in providing international business assistance to industries and private-public agencies in Alabama and the Southeastern region. Her responsibilities for the University Center for Economic Development include providing technical assistance in economic development and international business strategies to communities, organizations and private firms; and structuring projects and innovative programs that build capacity, expand the civic and elected leadership base, and create the environment for sustainable economic development.

Ms. Miranda has successfully developed nationally recognized demonstration projects at the Center for such agencies as the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Tennessee Valley Authority and several foreign organizations. She is a founding member of two non-profit organizations that support economic development in rural and distressed areas, the Alabama Communities of Excellence, Inc. and Your Town Alabama, Inc. She serves on the Southern Growth Policies Board---Southern Global Strategy Council and on the Board of Initiative Seven, the non-profit organization to support economic development initiatives in Alabama Congressman Artur Davis' district.

Ms. Miranda completed a BS in Biology and an MBA in International Business at The University of Alabama.

MAIGEN SULLIVAN

Administrative Specialist

Ms. Sullivan is the Office Manager/Project Manager for the University Center for Economic Development. In this capacity, she overseas all administrative activities, keeps the office organized and ensures that all contract requirements are fulfilled. Ms. Sullivan is a recent graduate from the University of Alabama and new to the UCED team.
